Reflection: Snapshots of '09, part two.
When I first started taking pictures, I rarely photographed people. I was caught up in taking pictures of everyday objects and moments. Turning over rocks and seeing the life beneath; catching the shadows cast by late afternoon sun; documenting fences and columns and gates. These are the kind of photos I preferred to take. Somewhere along the line, this changed. I still love finding beauty where people rarely cast another glance. But in an odd way, my perception of beauty has changed. It's funny. In searching out beauty in rusted fences and intertwined weeds, it became easier for me to find beauty in people.
PS: The last shot is actually a self-portrait. I included it because my friend Abby made me the scarf I am wearing. It's beauty and love, combined. :).
Everyone possesses a different kind of beauty; a treasure waiting to be discovered. I collected a few of my favorite (previously un-featured) shots of people, taken in 2009. This is only a small sampling of the treasure trove I was fortunate enough to discover this year. :).
Seek Beauty. Seek Love.
Without wax,
