Marshmallow world.

This past weekend brought to Hampton Roads the first snowstorm in ten years. It snowed by night and when we woke up, all was covered in fresh, beautiful snow. My ten-year-old brother came downstairs for that morning, mumbling about how unfair something-or-other was. I asked him to follow me and walked to the front door. Swinging the door open, I kept a close watch on his face. The brightness of the snow disoriented his eyes, at first, and it took him a moment to focus. That’s when he saw the snow. He grinned with an exclamation of, “Yay!” Just like that, the frustration vanished. Snow has that effect on people.

There’s something special about snow. Something beautiful. Something quiet. Something still. Something pure.

Incidentally, these are some of the first pictures taken with my new camera. :).

Without wax,
Sarah.
