Just a girl.

A few months ago my Uncle Rob took me aside. "I saw a bunch of your photos. They're amazing!" Before I could say anything he added, "I didn't realize you were such a good photographer - I just thought you took pictures."

I replied with a "Thank you!" and made a joke about having that distinction made on my business cards. "My name is Sarah and I don't just take pictures."

I love photography - I honestly do. There is something so intangibly tangible about looking at a photo. (Does that make sense?) Photos make memories come to life. Whenever I look at photos, I'm instantly transported to that time, to that place. It's so close and so real, I feel that I could reach out and skim the surface of the memory with my fingerprints. A light touch, but a touch nonetheless. But I am a fool if I think that I create these moments - these time machines. I don't. I just try to capture them as they come - one click at a time. I capture what the Creator has created.

So, looking back, I'd have to say my Uncle was right the first time. Because, the truth is: I don't know that I am a photographer.

On most days - days like today, I am reminded:
I'm just a girl who likes to take pictures.

And I am absolutely okay with that. :).

Without wax,
Sarah.
